Qld: All citrus trees on infected farm to be destroyed
Work will start tomorrow to destroy all the citrus trees on a central Queensland property
hit by a highly contagious fruit disease.
Citrus canker, which causes lesions on fruit, was discovered at Evergreen Farms near
Emerald in July, resulting in the property being quarantined to protect the state's $100
million citrus industry.
Bans were placed on the interstate movement of all Queensland citrus and work began
on destroying the infected trees.
Primary Industries Minister HENRY PALASZCZUK says further tests show the disease is
present in the remaining trees at the property and they will now all be destroyed.
